CCC ~ Smoothies

I first heard about the Crazy Cooking Challenge from my Get Your Chef On/bestest blog buddy Jen from Four Marrs & One Venus.  Jen had talked to Kim from Cups by Kim to get some ideas for how we would send out the emails for GYCO.

It was a grilled cheese crazy cooking challenge.  Sign me up!  Now really, I signed up!  All the grilled cheese recipes made me drool.  Then it happened.  I realized the next round - my first participation round - was fruit smoothies.  Oh lord.  What would I make?  I really didn't feel inspired or drawn to any recipes.

And then I went to Jamba Juice.  Light bulb!! (now say it like Gru)  My favorite Jamba Juice smoothie is Caribbean Passion.  With my love for knock offs I was sure there had to be a recipe, somewhere out there, with a knock off Caribbean Passion recipe for me.  And there is!!

I think my favorite thing about the Crazy Cooking Challenge is that you get the chance to totally feature and show off another blogger's awesome work.  I found my smoothie recipe over at Meemo's Kitchen.  Pattie's blog is full of amazing copycat/knock off recipes.  I think I've found my new "I can make that!" mecca.  I highly encourage you to check out Pattie's blog and Tina's blog - Mom's Crazy Cooking - she is our gracious hostess after all.  ;)

Jamba Juice Knock Off ~ Caribbean Passion Smoothie
Adapted from Meemo's Kitchen

Ingredients:
1 cup Naked power-c machine* juice smoothie
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup frozen peaches
1 cup orange sherbet
1/2 cup ice

Directions:
In a blender add Naked juice then add strawberries, peaches, sherbet, and ice.  Blend on high until "smoothie" consistency.  {If your smoothie is too thick add an extra splash of juice.}

Pattie used a Passion Fruit Mango juice blend.  She said Welch's makes some and Trader Joe's has it too.  I went to 2 stores and no luck.
That was enough shopping around for me.

I bought some Naked juice instead.
It has mango, orange, peach, strawberry, apple, and guava juices.
Close enough.
And really really yummy.  The Things and I loved it!!

  1. Hi Julie! I just LOVE smoothies. They are my go to quick meal when I don't feel like being in the kitchen or are not too too hungry. I load mine with bananas, spinach, mangos, yogurt, and frozen strawberries. I love your addition of sherbert!
