First off, OBC was a blog conference, but it was all online. Not traveling expenses, hotel rooms, long waits at the airport. I got to sit around in my jammies, drink coffee, and learn more about what I love - blogging. While I don't have a picture of myself in said PJs I do happen to have a few pictures to exploit my friends. :)
OBC Co-Creator: Ashton Swank
OBC Co-Creator: Dorothy Kern
OBC Facebook Group Moderator: Joan Hayes
They're going to love me for this. (kidding, I was emailed these pictures willingly) So for a mere $15, I got access to all the OBC giveaways, private blog conference website, and access to the Facebook group. The group is seriously amazing. It's an endless fount of blogging knowledge, from new to seasoned, with great questions and even better answers.

I'm so happy I got some seriously good insight on all this stuff. I have everything saved as a word document so I can reread it later. It's good to refresh and get re-inspired. The recipe development hit home for me, and I am all about trying to make blogging my main income. It's seriously a dream to think that I could follow my passion and pay the bills. Staying home with the little boys would be wicked cool too.
Don't worry. There will be an Online BlogCon 2013.
I think one of my favorite parts of this conference was putting together the local AZ meet up. It was a little more work than I planned on, but super fun and it was so nice meeting local bloggers I didn't feel weird around. (My first experience was iffy.)

The ladies and I all went to Cadillac Ranch at Tempe Marketplace.
I have to show you these...Bacon Wontons. Yeah.
The ladies.
From left, clockwise:
Me, Stacey & Aburey from Realhouse Moms, Valerie from Occasionally Crafty, Lynne from 365 Days of Baking, and Rachel from I Love My Disorganized Life.
Rachel drove all the way from Tucson!
(like an hour and a half, easy)

So not ready to have my picture taken.
Valerie, Lynne, and Rachel.
A couple of the gals brought treats!
Gingersnap cookies (yum!), goodie bags, and Valerie made everyone the cutest key chains.
The relationships I've developed from this conference, the information I've been exposed to, and the group of women I get to share with and learn from are priceless. I can't thank Ashton and Dorothy enough for putting this whole thing together. So much work! And thanks to Joan for keeping our Facebook group alive and kicking in the best way possible.
I hope to see you at Online BlogCon 2013!
This looks like an absolute blast. I was considering doing it, but the time zones didn't work for me as it was term time. I will keep my eye out for 2013 though.

Thanks for sharing. I'm thinking about attending in 2013. I'm a new blogger (and your newest follower!) and I'm not sure if I'm ready to shell out the $ for the in person events yet! Maybe some day... those conferences are pricey!
ReplyDeleteJulie, you'll have to beat me to the sign up! OBC was worth so much more than just the few days of the conference! The networking that we still have going strong, the friendships and of course the knowledge. And of course because it was all online we had participants from all over the world!
ReplyDeleteI think that most if not all of us from the 2012 OBC will be fighting to sign up first! Loved your post Julie and I agree with Joan. I can't say enough about how much I have gained from the networking and friendships that I've gained from OBC.
