I'm not really all that into Valentine's Day. I've been at work for so many years on February 14th, waiting on couples and groups of couples, that I'd rather get the cash than get all mushy. Now that I'm home instead of working, I'm still not a V-Day girl. I don't want a gifts or anything. It's just a card holiday to me. And I wear black that day instead of red, ha!
When I was little my mom would give me a Valentine's Day card and something special...a gift, a sweet note, stuff like that. It made my day and it was fun to feel special an extra day of the year. I totally plan on doing something sweet for my boys each Valentine's Day like my mom did for me. Making them feel special and the smile on their faces will be worth the effort.
For the pink and red lovers here are some fun ideas for Valentine's Day I found and a recipe from me for your very own I Heart You Day.
Oh So Sweet Krispie Treats
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons butter
1 bag Jumbo Jet Puffed Marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
1/2 package Pink Wilton candy melts
Red sanding sugar
1/2 package Valentine's Day colored Peanut Butter M&M's
Directions:
- In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Once butter is completely melted, add marshmallows. Stir occasionally until marshmallows are completely melted and mixture is smooth.
- Remove pot from heat. Add rice krispies and stir to coat cereal. Pour cereal mixture into a 13" x 9" pan that has been coated with cooking spray. Coat hand lightly with cooking spray and carefully press down to evenly disburse treats.
- Once treats are set up, chop M&M's in half and sprinkle over the top of treats.
- Melt candy melts according to package instructions. Drizzle over top of treats and M&M's. While melted candy is still soft, sprinkle with red sanding sugar. Allow melted candy to set up before cutting treats into squares.
